This page includes files and links to resources used in constructing the Greenbar program. It is our hope that the Greenbar program area inspires and rekindles interest in Scouts who have "been there, done that" with Summer Camp. Greenbar offers a mentored but mostly self-directed opportunity to earn some recognitions, get some training, put previous Merit Badge skills to the test, and expand on the leadership foundation of skills competence, self-confidence, and intitiative.
The following images show the 2-sided flyer that was the original idea for Greenbar to be implemented at Famous Eagle. Many of the goals have been met. The program as detailed can currently be delivered. It's just a matter of participation. Several Scouts and Scouters have received training. Many people have enjoyed tasting the results of the cooking and "Food systems" modules of the program. Everyone can see the building projects taking place in the Greenbar area. Once again, the program exists and is functional, all it needs is participants. Page two of the "overview" discusses plans for a second year. It was assumed participants of the first year might want to come back and do something different or expand on their experiences. Year Two was designed to fulfil that need. Opportunities include more advanced and time commitment level trainings. LNT level 1 and WFA are both 16 hour classes. They would require previous registration and additional class fees, but we're already at camp so this is a natural environment to pursue these credentials. Normally class fees include cost of lodging and feeding, which in the Famous Eagle environment at camp are already taken care of. Expect the normal LNT or WFA class fee of $150+ to be under $80 per participant. If registered for both classes we could probably reduce that further. Class materials are expensive and required for certification, but if we get a good sized group and have both classes full we could arrange some sort of savings!
